CREATIVITY

Creativity provides smartest way of achieving task in the day-to-day life. It gives efficient ideas for the business growth, software application, Engineering Architecture etc. I personally feel that creative mind requires in all levels of people from student to working Professionals, CEO etc.

Many factors are blocking us to proceed in a creative ways. I have listed some of those below.

1.   Criticism
Nothing kills creativity faster than criticism. It’s critical to withhold evaluation in the early stages of the process and encourage sharing of all ideas even if that idea is impractical.
2.   Fear of failure
Embrace failure and learn from it. Failure teaches much lessons whereas success never does.
3.   Conformity
An open questioning mind is an essential requirement for creativity. Edison Said “I have no exceptional talents other than a passionate curiosity”.

There are numerous techniques are being followed to overcome from above mentioned blocking factors. Some of those techniques are listed below.

1.   Brainstorming

This is one of the technique which focuses on fluency i.e. generation of a very wide range of ideas in a relaxed environment free from criticism and evaluation.

Practice steps are given below.

1)  Gather the participants from a wide range of disciplines and experience
2)  Do some warm up exercises to get the group in a relaxed frame of mind?
3)   Write down a brief description of the problem
4) Criticism is ruled out. Accept everything. In other words, defer judgment.
5)   The more ideas generated the higher the probability for original ideas.
6) Piggybacking on each other’s ideas to combine and improve is desirable.

2.   Mind Mapping

Mind mapping is a visual, nonlinear way to organize information and stimulate the thinking power of our mind. It allows our mind the freedom to mix ideas up in new ways and develop new patterns and channels of thought.

Practice steps are given below.

1)   Put the topic that we are working on in the center
2)   Add different branches for the various attributes/facets of the topic
3)   Add sub-branches for the associations of those attributes
4)   Use single words or simple phrases for information
5)   Use color to separate different ideas.
